MISSION5 IMPACT

'Mission5' IMPACT –
- Our contribution box with activities report at Bake N Cake, a restaurant at TC Palya [Bangalore] encouraged Mehboob, a resident of Anandapura, to work with MISSION5 and help the disabled and deprived children.

- He contributed the 50-kg rice that Mission5 donated to the Old-age Home,
and the 50-kg rice & 20-kg pulses to the Orphanage, in the month of December.

# A 5-day collection program = Rs 1,145/-

MISSION’S ACTIVITIES
:-
1. SWEATERS TO ALL CHILDREN AT ORPHANAGE :-
- Mission5 donated a sweater each to all 23 children of an orphanage
- Kannada Makkala Adarsha Mahila Uchita Nilaya at Parvati Nagar.
- And also donated 5-kg wheat flour. [16-12-2007]

2. 50-kg RICE TO OLD-AGE HOME & ORPHANAGE :-
- Mission5 donated 50-kg rice to Sree Shiridi Sai Vrudhashram
& Home for Mentally Retarded, an old-age home for
22 elderly members, most of them mentally retarded,
at Kithigannur. [02-12-2007]
- Mission also donated 50-kg rice & 20-kg pulses to
Kannada Makkala Adarsha Mahila Uchita Nilaya. [23-12-2007]

3. 2,000 BRAILLE PAPERS TO RAKUM BLIND SCHOOL :-
- On the occasion of Christmas, Mission5 donated 2,000 Braille papers
to Sri Rakum School for the Blind, Indiranagar. [25-12-2007]

4. 22 WATER MUGS TO JEEVITHA ANATHASHRAMA :-
- Mission5 donated a water mug each to 22 children at
Jeevitha Anathashrama, an orphanage at Anandapura. [24-12-2007]
- We also organized a medical check-up for the children,
a monthly activity by Mission 5. [16-12-2007]

5. On the occasion of Christmas, Mission5 provided snacks of chocolates & fruits to the children of Kannada Makkala…Uchita Nilaya.[25 Dec ‘07]

On the occasion of Christmas Day [25/12/2007],
we donated 2,000 BRAILLE SHEETS to
Sri Rakum School for the Blind, Indiranagar..






On the eve of Christmas Day [24/12/2007], we donated 22 TEA MUGS to the children at
Jeevitha Anathashram, Anandpura.




On 23/12/2007 we donated 50-kg rice to an ORPHANAGE
- KANNADA ADARSHA MAHILA MAKKALA UCHITA NILAYA at PARVATINAGAR, KR PURAM..

23 SWEATERS + 5-kg FLOUR TO ORPHANAGE.


MISSION 5 donated
a SWEATER each to all 23 children
of an ORPHANAGE - KANNADA ADARSHA MAHILA MAKKALA UCHITA NILAYA
at PARVATINAGAR, KR PURAM on 16 Dec 2007.


This orphanage founded by Ms. Taramma,is run by
a committee of 15 members [13 of them tailors].
She started with 3 children in 2002.

Today it is a home for 23 underprivileged children from states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand. While some of them have a single-parent, a mojority of them were picked up from the streets.


We also donated 5-kg flour on 16 Dec 2007.

Earlier, MISSION 5 had helped them with 20-kg pulses on 2 Dec 2007.


MISSION aims at helping them with 50-kg rice every month from the month of January.

REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER – NOVEMBER :-

# Total collection in the month of October = 1249/-

# A total of 190 students in October and 219 students in
November contributed liberally.

MISSION’S ACTIVITIES:-

1. OLD-AGE HOME
[Sree Sai Krupa Vrudhashram & Mentally Retarded]


 Donated a blood-sugar testing machine worth 1650/- and
50-kg rice to the Kithigannur branch on 14 Oct ’07.

 Donated 10-kg rice to its KR Puram branch on 20 Oct ’07.

 On the occasion of Diwali, we donated 50-kg rice and
gave Rs 1000/- half of the total cost to put
mosquito net in all 26 rooms of the elderly home at
Kithigannur on 9 Oct ’07.


2. ORPHANAGE
[ Jeevitha Anathashram ]
:-

 Organized a medical check-up &
bought all the prescribed medication on 6 Oct ‘07.

 Donated 5 towels and 3 floor mats on 6 Oct ’07.






 Donated clothes to a few children
on Children's Day
on 14 Nov ’07.

 Organized a medical check-up &
gave a first-aid kit on 30 Nov ’07.




3. BLIND SCHOOL [ Sri Rakum School for the Blind ] :-




 Donated 2,000 Braille sheets & old clothes on 16 Oct’07.

4. FILM SHOW :-
 Celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with the screening of two films
1. Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara
2. Lage Raho Munna Bhai
at the GCC Auditorium on 2 Oct ’07.

5. PLANT TREES – PLANT LIFE :-

 Planted 15 TREE saplings in the premises of
St. Anthony’s School, at Bosconagar on 19 Nov ’07.
 15 members of ‘Mission 5’ and 20 students from the
school participated in the tree plantation program. Concluding the event,
the 20 students were given 2 notebooks and a pen each.

6. 3 HELP 1 CHILD :-
[a project of MISSION 5,
helping 22 underprivileged children identified under a month-long
survey across 6 villages, go to St. Anthony School]


 Paid school fees of 5 children and one child’s uniform stitching charge,
all studying at St. Anthony School.

 In September, all 22 children were given study materials.

 Total collection for “3HELP 1 CHILD” in the month of October = 5830/-

5-POINT OBJECTIVES

5-POINT OBJECTIVES:-
1. To help the visually challenged and other disabled children imbibe the 'LIGHT OF EDUCATION', and provide the other basic needs.

2. To help and support the 'orphanages and old-age homes' by providing them food, medicines and other basic needs.

3. To help the underprivileged children exercise their 'RIGHT TO CHILDHOOD' & 'RIGHT TO EDUCATION', and provide the other basic needs.

4. To conduct regular SURVEYS in the backward areas on CHILD LITERACY and related subjects, and help the identified poor children go to school.

5. To raise awareness on ecological issues and conduct various environmental conservation programmes.

15 saplings planted at St.Anthony School, Bosconagar




MISSION 5 planted 15 tree saplings with the children of
St. Anthony School [Bosconagar], in the school premises on 19 Nov 2007..



With this, 63 is the number of saplings in total, MISSION 5 has planted in various schools with school children, in the area.




Following the plantation programme, the participating students [only] were given notebooks and pen.

GLUCOMETER + 50-kg RICE to OLD-AGE HOME


On 14-10-2007 MISSION 5 donated a
GLUCOMETER [blood-sugar testing machine]
and 50-kg RICE
to
‘Sree Sai Krupa Vrudhashram & Mentally Retarded’,
an OLD-AGE HOME at Kithigannur.


The other branch of this old-age home
at KR Puram received 10 kg rice on 19-10-2007
& 20 blankets in the month of SEPTEMBER.


This 32-member elderly-home is also a home to more than 25 mentally retarded members.

SEPTEMBER - ACTIVITIES REPORT

REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER :-

# A 5-day collection program totalled 8850/-

MISSION’S ACTIVITIES:-
1. OLD-AGE HOME :-
- Donated a blanket each to all 20 elderly members at
‘Sree Sai Krupa Vrudhashram & Mentally Retarded’
at KR Puram. [30-09-2007]
- A group of 15 students visited the old-age home,
interacted with the elderly members and donated
them a blanket each.

2. FILM SHOW :-
- Screened the film – TSUNAMI, The Aftermath
at GCC Auditorium on 28-09-2007.
- A total of 70 students attended the film show.

3. St. ANTHONY’s SCHOOL :-
- Donated study materials to all 22 children under
its project – “3 HELP 1 CHILD”. [25-09-2007]
- Bablu, a 4-year-old boy from ‘Jeevitha Anathashram’,
was admitted in Nursery at St. Anthony’s School
and thus included under this project.

4. BLIND SCHOOL :-
- Donated 2,000 Braille Sheets and old cloths to
‘Sri Rakum School for the Blind’, Indiranagar. [29-09-2007]
- A trip was organised for 25 students to this school and snacks was offered
for all children here.

5. PLANT TREES – PLANT LIFE :-
- Planted 15 tree saplings, on the occasion of
Ganesh Chaturthi, at New Indus Valley Residential School,
TC Palya on 15-09-2007.

- A total of 20 college students and 10 school children
participated in the tree plantation programme.

 Contribution boxes have been newly put up at –
A] Capital College,
B] Bake n Cake, TC Palya,
C] S N Communications, TC Palya.

20 BLANKETS TO OLD-AGE HOME


MISSION 5 on 30-09-2007 donated a blanket each to all 20 members of the old -age home - SREE SAI KRUPA VRUDHASHRAM & MENTALLY RETARDED, at KR Puram.

A group of 15 students visited the old-age home, interacted with the elderly members and donated a blanket each to all of them.

Mission aims at helping this elderly home with a blood-sugar-test machine worth 2,000/- in the next month.

15 TREE SAPLINGS AT TC PALYA


MISSION 5 planted 15 TREE SAPLINGS with school children in INDUS VALLEY RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL in TC Palya on 15-09-2007.


PLANT TREES – PLANT LIFE, an environmental conservation project of MISSION 5 to conduct programmes like DOCUMENTARY SHOWS on Ecological Issues and plant Tree Saplings with the mass every month….


As of now, Mission 5 has planted 48 Tree Saplings [incl. this 15] with school children and screened 7 Documentaries on Global Warming, Water problems and other Environmental threats.

‘MISSION 5’ ACTIVITIES:-

1. BLIND SCHOOL :-

- Donated 2,000 Braille sheets, old clothes and newspapers to Sri Rakum School for the Blind, Indiranagar.

-Organized a trip for 18 students to the Blind School.[28-8-‘07]

2. JIVITHA ANATHASHRAM :-

-organized a picnic for the children of this orphanage [07-07-2007]

-donated 23 pairs of slippers to all children [26-08-2007]

-organized a Medical check-up at the orphanage and bought all prescribed medicines [31-08-2007]

-donated a First-aid kit [cotton, bandages, ointment,
tincture iodine phials]

-bought two toothpaste tubes.


4 children from this orphanage are studying under the project ‘3HELP 1CHILD’ at St. Anthony’s School.


3. St. ANTHONY’s SCHOOL :-

- ‘Mission 5’ identified 115 children studying in this school, who are orphans or have a single-parent and

- distributed study materials [notebooks, pencil/pen] to all 115 children [31-08-2007].


4. FILM SHOW :-
-organized a film show screening two films :-
a)Gandhi My Father
b)An Inconvenient Truth
at GCC Auditorium.[25-08-2007]
- distributed paper bags to all the students who attended the 2nd film on Global Warming, to reduce the use of plastic.
- Mission 5 planted 16 Tree Saplings with school children in Samuel Public School in Hella Nagar on 28-06-2007.

5. “3HELP 1 CHILD” :-
[Donate Rs. 50/- to help 1 poor child go to school]

- ‘Mission 5’ is helping 21 under-privileged children from
across 6 villages [Anandapura, Margonda Halli,
Kithiganur, Jyothi Nagar, TC Palya, Hella Nagar] go to
St. Anthony School, Bosconagar by sponsoring all
expenses [school uniform, bag, books, school fees].

- These 21 children were selected from among many
identified under a survey conducted by Team Mission 5
across these villages, in the month of May.

Total collection for ‘3Help 1Child’ in August = 4150/-

‘Mission 5’ identified 115 children studying in this school, who are orphans or have a single-parent.





On 31-08-2007 Mission5 distributed study materials [notebooks, pencil/pen] to all 115 children.

St. Anthony's is a school at Bosconagar where more than 850 children from across 7 villages around Bosconagar come to get education from Nursery to Class X.

2,000 BRAILLE SHEETS to BLIND SCHOOL


ON 28-08-2007 MISSION 5
donated 2,000 BRAILLE SHEETS to
SRI RAKUM SCHOOL for the BLIND,
Indiranagar.

Mission also organized a trip
for a group of 18 students from
Garden City College, to help them
see how the visually challenged children
live life amidst perpetual darkness.


This Blind School is a temple of knowledge and shelter to more than 300 visually- impaired children with separate hostels for boys and girls.

Mission 5 has been helping the school
with 2,000 BRAILLE SHEETS
since its initiation in FEBRUARY,2007.

'MAY-JUNE' -ACTIVITIES REPORT-

REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF MAY-JUNE:-

# A 5-day collection program totalled 4,535/-
# A total of 405 students from 12 UG courses and 4 PG courses contributed liberally.

MISSION’S ACTIVTIES
:-

1. Rs. 30,458/- for PADMA :-
PADMA BHATTARCHARYA, a 9-yr-old girl, lost her left arm [on amputation] due to severe electric shock on 7 May at KR Puram. The poor family could not bear the hospital expenses of Rs 2 lakhs.
A 5-day fund raising programme [17-22MAY] by a 12-member team collected Rs. 30,458/- from various colleges & corporate houses to help the suffering family.

# CARROM BOARD:-
MISSION donated PADMA a carrom board to play and make her whole day stay inside a room a little interesting. [14-06-2007]

2. BLIND SCHOOL :-
Mission donated 3000 Braille Sheets to Sri Rakum School for Blind,
Indiranagar. [13-06-2007]


3. JIVITHA ANATHASHRAM:-
- 3 children’s education is being sponsored by Mission 5
under its project – 3 HELP 1 CHILD.
- Mission donated 17 tooth brushes and a toothpaste.

4. ENGLISH CLASSES:-
On 16-06-2007 MISSION began its ‘Saturday 1-hour English Class’ for the Primary Level students of St. Anthony School [Kannada medium].

[3 persons donate Rs. 50/- to help 1 poor child go to school ]

MISSION helped 20 under-privileged children from
across 6 villages [ Anandapura, Margonda Halli, Kithiganur, Jyothi Nagar, TC Palya, Hella Nagar] go to St. Anthony School, Bosconagar, and is sponsoring the cost of their education.
These children were identified by a week-long survey conducted by Team Mission 5.

Total collection in the month of APRIL-MAY =8,800/-
Total collection in the month of JUNE = 3,350/-


Ø Tree Plantation Program:-
MISSION planted 17 saplings at Hella Nagar on 27-06-’07 with participation of 30 school children.

ENGLISH CLASSES for Primary School Children of St. Anthony School [Kannada med.]..



Mission 5 has begun conducting BASIC ENGLISH CLASSES for 1 hour on SATURDAY for Primary students of St. Anthony School, Bosco Nagar, Bangalore-36..



In the coming days, Mission aims at taking English classes for students up to X std. to help improve their English speaking and writing skills...

Tree Plantation with school children at Hella Nagar



Team MISSION5 along with as many as 30 school children of Samuel Public School, Hella Nagar planted 16 saplings in their school premises on 27th June.



Children enjoyed the tree plantation programme and also promised to take care of the saplings..

MISSION 5
organized
a 5-DAY
FUND RAISING
PROGRAMME
[17MAY - 22MAY]

for PADMA BHATTARCHARYA, a 9-yr old girl who met an accident on 7th May at KR Puram and lost her left arm [on amputation] due to severe electric shock.
The poor family had nothing other than to spread arms FOR HELP to the city to pay the hospital expenses of Rs 2 lakhs.
The Mission raised a sum of Rs. 30,458/- to help the suffering family.


MISSION raised a fund of Rs.6630/- from Garden City College [16-05-'07],
Rs. 16000/- from PESIT and PES colleges [19-05-'07],
Rs.3533/- from Bangalore Institute of Technology and
Rs.4295/- from The Hindu office [21-05-'07].

on 08-06-2007 mission submitted the total sum of Rs. 30,458/- to the family.

A 12-member team actively participated in the 5-day program,
in this voluntary activity at different colleges
and organizations,in Bangalore.

MISSION 5,on behalf of the bereaved family, sincerely thanks all the contributors.

MISSION 5 "REPORT---APRIL"

1. A 5-day collection program totalled= 4,952/-
2. A total of 897 students from 12 UG courses and 4 PG courses contributed liberally..





# MISSION'S ACTIVITIES:-

1. “3 HELP 1 CHILD”
A week-long survey conducted by
MISSION 5, with the help of Shishu Mandir
across 6 villages around TC Palya, on child
literacy, identified 26 under-privileged children,
most of them unable to go to school,
due to poverty.
3 HELP 1 CHILD – an idea of MISSION
where a group 3 persons contributes Rs. 50/-
every month for 10 calendar months
and helps 1 poor child go to St. Antony School.
A total of 82 persons [69 students]
contributed Rs. 50/- in the month of April and
became a part of this noble effort.

2. Mission donated 2000 Braille sheets to Sri Rakum School for Blind,Indiranagar on 14-04-2007. A group of 17 students visited the school with the team.

3. Mission organized a Medical check-up for the chidren of Jivitha Anathashram on 09-04-2007 and donated all the prescribed medicines along with a First-Aid kit.

4. “THIRSTY PLANET”
Mission organized a 2-series ‘Documentary Show’,
screening 6 short films gifted by Max Muller Bhavan,
on Global Warming, Water Problems and Crisis,
on 05-05-2007 and 12-05-2007.
‘SAY NO PLASTIC’ - to make all aware of the
consequences of using plastic and to reduce its use,
Mission made and distributed paper bags to the
students who attended the 2nd doc. show.


5. “PLANT TREES - PLANT LIFE”
Mission organized a TREE PLANTATION PROGRAM on 09-05-2007 planting 16 saplings in Hella Nagar, participated by 20 students of GCC and 15 students of Shishu Mandir.
Very soon Mission is organizing a series of plantation program with other colleges and schools in Bangalore, to spread the idea of “Mission 5” and also make all aware of the importance of trees to curb the growing heat process and help save this planet from the upcoming apocalyptic climate changes and crises.


 On 19-04-2007, Team Mission 5 went to Central
College, Bangalore
, and gave a presentation to
the students of Dept. of Mass Comm. and MCA,
on beginning a “Mission 5” in their area.
The old lady at Bhattarahalli, taken care by
Mission 5, expired on 05-04-2007, following a
serious health break down.

"PLANT TREES - PLANT LIFE"

- a TREE PLANTATION PROGRAMME organized by MISSION 5 on 9TH MAY. A total of 35 students [20 of the MISSION and 15 of SHISHU MANDIR], participated in the JOINT VENTURE.

The MISSION aims at planting 50 saplings every month -as a joint activity with other colleges and schools in Bangalore, to spread the idea of MISSION as well as make all aware of the importance of planting trees to curb down the process of GLOBAL WARMING and protect this planet from the upcoming apocalyptic CRISES and climate changes.
