'MISSION 5' ACTIVITIES :-

1. DIWALI CELEBRATIONS WITH THE NEEDY :-

  • The joy of celebrating festivals with the needy is a different, satisfying experience altogether. And like the previous year, this time too, Mission5 volunteers celebrated Diwali with the inmates at an elderly
    home ‘
Shri Shirdi Sai Vrudhashram & Home for the Mentally Challenged’, and children at an orphanage ‘Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samstha’.
  • We cherished the festival of lights by offering sweets to the kids and watching cartoon with them. The celebrations concluded with a short dance session and lighting colour sparks with the kids.
  • At the elderly home, we distributed fruits and sweets to the inmates and spent a good time with them.

  • Donated 25kg rice and other essentials such as sugar [2kg] + hair oil [500ml] + cooking oil [2ltrs] + surf [2kg] at Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samstha, Parvati Nagar. [25/10/2009]
  • Distributed fruits and conducted a drawing contest among the children. [10/10/2009]

  • To another orphanage, Jeevitha Anathashrama, we provide 120 litres milk per month, i.e. 4 litres on a daily basis.
  • Paid Rs. 3,906/- in the month of October, for a total of 248 litres of milk donated to both orphanages.

5. REMEMBERING THE MAHATMA – A Special Story :

  • So, what did you do this Gandhi Jayanti? Yes, we all have an answer. But does that answer find any relevance with the significance of the day – one of the few national holidays in the country?
  • Well, a bunch of kids, far from the madding crowd, remembered the Mahatma by hoisting the national flag, singing the national anthem and paying floral tributes.
  • Could there be a better way to pay respect to the leader, who sacrificed his life to achieve the independence of this country?

7. “MISSION 5” IMPACT:-

  • Alex celebrated his birthday by offering lunch and cakes to the kids at Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samstha. [19/10/2009]
  • Anurag, student of II Sem. BCA, too celebrated his birthday with the kids at the orphanage by distributing chocolates and cakes to them.

  • ϖ Team Mission5 requests students to come forward to participate in its weekly activities and also celebrate their special occasions with the underprivileged.
