JANUARY 2008 REPORT

REPORT for the month of JANUARY 2008 :-
# A 5-day collection program = Rs. 5,859/-
# A total of 812 students contributed liberally.

MISSION’S ACTIVITIES :-
1. NEW BRANCH of Mission5 STARTED :-
- On 01-01-2008 , students of Kristu Jayanti College, Naraynpura, started Mission5 in their college. They began their initiative by celebrating New Year with the children of Infant Jesus Children Home [HIV] at Kothanur Post, Narayanpura, Bangalore-77.

2. 2,700 BRAILLE PAPERS TO RAKUM BLIND SCHOOL :-
- Donated 2700 Braille Papers to Sri Rakum School for the Blind, Indiranagar, on 22-01-2008. The event was participated by the CNN IBN crew members and 14 members of Mission5.

3. STUDY MATERIALS, ESSENTALS TO ORPHANAGE :-
- An orphanage at Parvati Nagar, a home to 24 children. We donated two
packets of cooking oil, two packets of washing soap, bathing soaps - 2,
2-kg of washing podwer, coconut oil - 2, on 12-01-2008.
- Distributed notebooks and slates to all the children on 27-01-2008.
- Celebrated New Year 2008 & Republic Day with the children here.
We offered them fruits, chocolates and sweets.

4. RICE TO ELDERLY HOMES FOR MENTALLY RETARDED :-
- Donated 10-kg rice to Sree Sai Krupa Vrudhashram & Mentally Retarded,
KR Puram, on 27-01-2008 and 50-kg rice to Sree Shirdi Vrudhashram &
Home for Mentally Retarded, Kihiganur on 31-01-2008.

5. ‘ONE OF THE 6 BEST CITIZEN HERO INITIATIVES’ – CNN IBN :-
- CNN IBN, an English News Channel, nominates MISSION5 as one of the 6 best CITIZEN HERO INITIATIVES from across India. The students’ initiative achieved this in just less than a year of its initiation, of service to the disabled and deprived. It was telecasted on The CJ Show on Republic Day.

Jab MISSION5 met CNN IBN

22 Jan 2008, a day that marked
the completion of 355 days of MISSION 5,
CNN IBN, an English News Channel,
approached us to help our service to the needy
be known to the entire nation
and help inspire others
to begin a similar campaign in their college..



The day-long shooting came to an end at around 5PM
after which we had a small discussion.
All had one thing in common to say;
the crew's social concern was noticeably higher than professional.


We decided to do something special with the
contribution that the crew made to Mission5.
Here is the report -


- we offered fruits and sweets for the children of an orphanage,
Kannada Adarsha Mahila Sanstha, Parvati Nagar, Bangalore-49,
on the occasion of Republic Day, i.e. 26 Jan 2008.



- we also donated notebooks and slates to the these children on 27 Jan 2008.




- to an Old-Age Home, Sree Sai Vrudhashram & Mentally Retarded,
at KR Puram ,Bangalore-49,with 8 elderly members,
we donated 10-kg rice..

MISSION 5 with HIV CHILDREN at Kothanur





MISSION 5 GCC and MISSION 5 KJC [new branch] choosed INFANT JESUS CHILDREN HOME, a home for 43 HIV children at Kothanur Post, Bangalore-77, to meet, interact and discuss about the activities of Mission in the coming days.

A group of 8 members from GCC [GARDEN CITY COLLEGE] and 6 from KJC [KRISTU JAYANTI COLLEGE], spent a good time time with the children at the Home & offered them fruits, biscuits and chocolates.


On the occasion of NEW YEAR 2008, the students of KJC began MISSION 5 in their college at Narayanpura, Bangalore
.

Henceforth, Mission5 KJC, a students' initiative, will help the needy in their area, i.e. Narayanpura. .

3HELP 1 CHILD - Details of all 22 children


3 HELP 1 CHILD - FUNDING EDUCATIONAL EXPENSES OF 22 POOR CHILDREN from across 6 villages, in the area..

3HELP 1 CHILD - a project of MISSION5
that helps 22 underprivileged from across 6 different villages
[Anandapura, Margonda Halli,Kithiganur, Jyothi Nagar, TC Palya, Hella Nagar] go to school for education.

These children were identified through a month-long survey with a nearby missionary school, SHISHU MANDIR.

All 22 children study at St. ANTHONY's SCHOOL at BOSCONAGAR< BANGALORE-49.

MISSION 5 - NEW BRANCH STARTED at KRISTU JAYANTI COLLEGE, Bangalore



On 01-01-2008,
students of Kristu Jayanti College, Kothanur, Bangalore-77,
started MISSION 5 in their area.
Its called MISSION 5 - KRISTU JAYANTI COLLEGE BRANCH
.

The students' group celebrated New Year with the children of
INFANT JESUS CHILDREN HOME, Hennur
.

This children's home accommodates 43 HIV+ children.

MISSION5 IMPACT

'Mission5' IMPACT –
- Our contribution box with activities report at Bake N Cake, a restaurant at TC Palya [Bangalore] encouraged Mehboob, a resident of Anandapura, to work with MISSION5 and help the disabled and deprived children.

- He contributed the 50-kg rice that Mission5 donated to the Old-age Home,
and the 50-kg rice & 20-kg pulses to the Orphanage, in the month of December.

MISSION’S ACTIVITIES
:-
1. SWEATERS TO ALL CHILDREN AT ORPHANAGE :-
- Mission5 donated a sweater each to all 23 children of an orphanage
- Kannada Makkala Adarsha Mahila Uchita Nilaya at Parvati Nagar.
- And also donated 5-kg wheat flour. [16-12-2007]

2. 50-kg RICE TO OLD-AGE HOME & ORPHANAGE :-
- Mission5 donated 50-kg rice to Sree Shiridi Sai Vrudhashram
& Home for Mentally Retarded, an old-age home for
22 elderly members, most of them mentally retarded,
at Kithigannur. [02-12-2007]
- Mission also donated 50-kg rice & 20-kg pulses to
Kannada Makkala Adarsha Mahila Uchita Nilaya. [23-12-2007]

3. 2,000 BRAILLE PAPERS TO RAKUM BLIND SCHOOL :-
- On the occasion of Christmas, Mission5 donated 2,000 Braille papers
to Sri Rakum School for the Blind, Indiranagar. [25-12-2007]

4. 22 WATER MUGS TO JEEVITHA ANATHASHRAMA :-
- Mission5 donated a water mug each to 22 children at
Jeevitha Anathashrama, an orphanage at Anandapura. [24-12-2007]
- We also organized a medical check-up for the children,
a monthly activity by Mission 5. [16-12-2007]

5. On the occasion of Christmas, Mission5 provided snacks of chocolates & fruits to the children of Kannada Makkala…Uchita Nilaya.[25 Dec ‘07]

CELEBRATING THE SEASON OF JOY WITH THE NEEDY

Celebrating the season of joy with the disabled n deprived.....




We celebrated the festival of joy
with the children at
KANNADA ADARSHA MAHILA MAKKALA UCHITA NILAYA - a snacks of chocolates and fruits..






On the occasion of Christmas Day [25/12/2007],
we donated 2,000 BRAILLE SHEETS to
Sri Rakum School for the Blind, Indiranagar..






On the eve of Christmas Day [24/12/2007], we donated 22 TEA MUGS to the children at
Jeevitha Anathashram, Anandpura.




On 23/12/2007 we donated 50-kg rice to an ORPHANAGE
- KANNADA ADARSHA MAHILA MAKKALA UCHITA NILAYA at PARVATINAGAR, KR PURAM..

23 SWEATERS + 5-kg FLOUR TO ORPHANAGE.


MISSION 5 donated
a SWEATER each to all 23 children
of an ORPHANAGE - KANNADA ADARSHA MAHILA MAKKALA UCHITA NILAYA
at PARVATINAGAR, KR PURAM on 16 Dec 2007.


This orphanage founded by Ms. Taramma,is run by
a committee of 15 members [13 of them tailors].
She started with 3 children in 2002.

Today it is a home for 23 underprivileged children from states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand. While some of them have a single-parent, a mojority of them were picked up from the streets.


We also donated 5-kg flour on 16 Dec 2007.

Earlier, MISSION 5 had helped them with 20-kg pulses on 2 Dec 2007.


MISSION aims at helping them with 50-kg rice every month from the month of January.

OCT - NOV REPORT

REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER – NOVEMBER :-

# Total collection in the month of October = 1249/-
# Total collection in the month of November = 1474/-
# A total of 190 students in October and 219 students in
November contributed liberally.

MISSION’S ACTIVITIES:-

1. OLD-AGE HOME
[Sree Sai Krupa Vrudhashram & Mentally Retarded]


 Donated a blood-sugar testing machine worth 1650/- and
50-kg rice to the Kithigannur branch on 14 Oct ’07.

 Donated 10-kg rice to its KR Puram branch on 20 Oct ’07.

 On the occasion of Diwali, we donated 50-kg rice and
gave Rs 1000/- half of the total cost to put
mosquito net in all 26 rooms of the elderly home at
Kithigannur on 9 Oct ’07.


2. ORPHANAGE
[ Jeevitha Anathashram ]
:-

 Organized a medical check-up &
bought all the prescribed medication on 6 Oct ‘07.

 Donated 5 towels and 3 floor mats on 6 Oct ’07.






 Donated clothes to a few children
on Children's Day
on 14 Nov ’07.

 Organized a medical check-up &
gave a first-aid kit on 30 Nov ’07.




3. BLIND SCHOOL [ Sri Rakum School for the Blind ] :-




 Donated 2,000 Braille sheets & old clothes on 16 Oct’07.

 Donated 2,000 Braille sheets on 13 Nov ’07.




4. FILM SHOW :-
 Celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with the screening of two films
1. Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara
2. Lage Raho Munna Bhai
at the GCC Auditorium on 2 Oct ’07.

5. PLANT TREES – PLANT LIFE :-

 Planted 15 TREE saplings in the premises of
St. Anthony’s School, at Bosconagar on 19 Nov ’07.
 15 members of ‘Mission 5’ and 20 students from the
school participated in the tree plantation program. Concluding the event,
the 20 students were given 2 notebooks and a pen each.

6. 3 HELP 1 CHILD :-
[a project of MISSION 5,
helping 22 underprivileged children identified under a month-long
survey across 6 villages, go to St. Anthony School]


 Paid school fees of 5 children and one child’s uniform stitching charge,
all studying at St. Anthony School.

 In September, all 22 children were given study materials.

 Total collection for “3HELP 1 CHILD” in the month of October = 5830/-
