Mission5 starts in Pune

YOUTH IS A GREAT FORCE...

After one and a half years that
Mission 5 - a students' initiative
started at GCC in Bangalore,
the youth drive has now
spreaded its wings to
a new city in India.

On 26 July 2008, Mission5 started in Pune.
A group of 5 members lead the initiative
and decided to begin its course by supporting
Hermann Gmeiner Centre for Street Children,
Shivajinagar, Pune - 411 005, a home to
48 children from a nearby slum
.

Children between 6-18 years come here
during the day; they are served breakfast,
lunch and snacks, made to complete their
school assignments and sent home at 4 pm.
All 48 children go to a private school
near the Centre. Their school fees and
all other expenses are funded by individuals
and social organisations in the city.

On 12 Sept 2008, the newly started branch
carried out its first activity.
A group of 20 students visited
Hermann Gmeiner Centre for Street Children,
Shivajinagar, and donated
study materials to all 48 children
here.

As of now, we have planned to provide
study materials and other necessary requirements
to this Centre. Furthermore, search for
similar centres in the city
, that shelter the
disabled and deprived and need help, is on the run.
