Blood Donation Camp by Mission5 - SFS College



DONATE BLOOD - SAVE LIVES


Mission5 unveils the poster of the second edition of the annual blood donation camp scheduled at SFS College, on 13th March 2010.

The event has been hosted by Team Mission5 at St. Francis de Sales (SFS) College, Bangalore in association with Vijayanagar Blood Bank.

The first edition of the blood donation camp saw participation by 40 college students, and thus collected a total of 40 pints of blood.

Each of the 40 donors were awarded with a "Certificate of Appreciation".

We are looking forward to eager participation by more college students.

Pot Painting Program - Valentine Spl












Team Mission5 celebrated the day of love by conducting a Pot Painting program among children at an orphanage, Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe.

Each of the 20 children, who had participated in the tree plantation program on Republic Day, was asked to paint their sapling pot.

The pots were coated with white cement by Mission5 volunteers, following which the children painted the pots to their imagination, with red, blue, green and yellow hues.

3RD ANNUAL REPORT of MISSION 5 [FEB 2009 – FEB 2010] :



1. FEBRUARY 2009 :-

§ ‘MISSION 5’ was registered as a charitable organization under Govt. of Karnataka.

[Registration no. KRI-4-00228-2008-09] on Feb 02, 2009.

§ Donated 2,000 Braille papers to Sri Rakum School for the Blind, Indiranagar.

§ 50kg rice to Shree Shirdi Sai Vrudhashram & Home for Mentally Retarded [SSSVHMR], Kithiganur

& 25kg rice to Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe [KAMMS].

§ Donated 112 litres of milk each to Jeevitha Anathashrama & Kannada Adarsha M.M. Samsthe.


2. MARCH 2009 :-

§ TV9 – an English news channel telecast the story of ‘MISSION 5’ on March 22, 2009.

§ Completion of ‘3Help 1Child’ project for the year 2008-09. This academic session,

a total of 23 underprivileged children were sent to school.

§ 50kg rice to Shree Shirdi Sai Vrudhashram & Home for Mentally Retarded, Kithiganur

& 24 milk mugs to children at Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe.

§ Donated 124 litres of milk each to Jeevitha Anathashrama & Kannada Adarsha M.M. Samsthe.


3. APRIL 2009 :-

§ ‘3Help 1Child’ – Survey to identify children, for the new academic year 2009-10

and selection from the previous group of 23 children, began and concluded.

§ At the end of the month, based on students’ performance in exams and attendance,

the team announced to support a total of 19 children for the new academic session.

§ Arranged community service programs for Dept. of Journalism & Chemistry, GCC. [18 & 25th April 2009]

§ Donated 120 litres of milk each to Jeevitha Anathashrama & Kannada Adarsha M.M. Samsthe.


4. MAY 2009 :-

§ MISSION 5 – SFS College branch in association with Vijayanagar Hospital Blood Bank organized

a one-day blood donation camp at SFS College on May 02, 2009. 40 units of blood was collected from 40 students.

§ Donated 124 litres of milk each to Jeevitha Anathashrama & Kannada Adarsha M.M. Samsthe.


5. JUNE 2009 :-

§ Donated 5kg flour + 1 lit cooking oil + ½ kg daal + bathing soaps - 5 nos+ washing soaps – 5 nos

to an orphanage, Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe.

§ Donated 120 litres of milk each to Jeevitha Anathashrama & Kannada Adarsha M.M. Samsthe.


6. JULY 2009 :-

§ Collected and donated a bulk of old clothes to Sri Rakum School for the Blind, Indiranagar.

§ Donated 124 litres of milk each to Jeevitha Anathashrama & Kannada Adarsha M.M. Samsthe.

7. AUGUST 2009 :-

§ Paid school fees of all 7 children studying at St. Gaspar Vidyalaya, under ‘3Help 1Child’.

§ Celebrated Independence Day by distributing sweets and fruits to kids at K.A.M.M.S.

§ Donated 124 litres of milk each to Jeevitha Anathashrama & Kannada Adarsha M.M. Samsthe.


8. SEPTEMBER 2009 :-

§ 25kg rice to Shree Shirdi Sai Vrudhashram & Home for Mentally Retarded [SSSVHMR], Kithiganur

& 25kg rice to Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe [KAMMS].

§ Awareness programme on Swine Flu organized at SFS College. [15/09/2009]

§ Donated 124 litres of milk each to Jeevitha Anathashrama & Kannada Adarsha M.M. Samsthe.


9. OCTOBER 2009 :-

§ Celebrated Diwali by distributing sweets and lighting flower pots with children at K.A.M.M.S.

§ Organized flag-hoisting programme at K.A.M.M.S., on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

§ Donated 124 litres of milk each to Jeevitha Anathashrama & Kannada Adarsha M.M. Samsthe.


10. NOVEMBER 2009 :-

§ Celebrated Children’s Day by cutting a cake & screening a series of cartoon at K.A.M.M.S.

§ Donated 25kg rice + daal [2kg] + sugar [2kg] + cooking oil [2 ltr] + surf [2kg] + bathing soaps 5 nos

to K.A.M.M.S. [14/11/2009]

§ Donated 25kg rice to Shree Shirdi Sai Vrudhashram & Home for Mentally Retarded. [01/11/’09]

§ Donated 120 litres of milk each to Jeevitha Anathashrama & Kannada Adarsha M.M. Samsthe.


11. DECEMBER 2009 :-

§ Donated 50kg rice to Shree Shirdi Sai Vrudhashram & Home for Mentally Retarded. [19/12/’09]

§ Donated 25kg rice + daal [2kg] + sugar [2kg] + cooking oil [2 ltr] + surf [2kg] + bathing soaps 5 nos

to K.A.M.M.S. [20/12/2009]

§ Celebrated Christmas Day by cutting a cake and distributing gifts among kids at K.A.M.M.S.

§ Donated 124 litres of milk each to Jeevitha Anathashrama & Kannada Adarsha M.M. Samsthe.

12. JANUARY 2010 :-

§ Donated 120 litres of milk each to Jeevitha Anathashrama & Kannada Adarsha M.M. Samsthe.

§ Celebrated New Year 2010 by by cutting a cake and gifting a set of new dress to each of the 21 children at K.A.M.M.S.

§ Organised ‘SPORTS DAY’, as part of ‘Prayas – a co-curricular development project’, at K.A.M.M.S.

Winners were given certificates & 2 best performers awarded medals. [10/01/’10]

§ Kids’ Day Out – Took all 21 children from K.A.M.M.S. to see Gemini Circus. [16/01/2010]

§ Hosted a kite-flying program, on the occasion of Sankranti, at K.A.M.M.S. [14/01/2010]

Activities Report of January 2010 :

- Total collection in January 2010 = Rs. 8,550/-
- Students from across UG & PG courses of GCC contributed liberally.

MISSION’S ACTIVITIES :-
1. NEW YEAR 2010 CELEBRATIONS :-
- Team Mission5 celebrated New Year 2010 with kids at Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe, by cutting a cake and watching cartoon.
- Each of the 21 children were gifted a pair of new dress.

2. ‘SPORTS DAY’ AT ORPHANAGE :-
- As part of ‘PRAYAS’ – a co-curricular project, Team Mission5 conducted the first ‘Sports Day’ at Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe. The event comprised of 5 funny races like sack hopping. Children were divided into 2 groups – Tom & Jerry. [10/01/2010]
- Winners of each race were given certificates & one best performer from each of the 2 groups was awarded a certificate and a medal.

3. GEMINI CIRCUS TRIP – KIDS’ DAY OUT :-­­
- As part of New Year celebrations, all 21 kids from Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe were taken to watch Gemini Circus at Palace Grounds. [16/01/2010]

4. KITE-FLYING : SANKRANTI SPECIAL :-
- On the occasion of Sankranti, Mission5 conducted a kite-flying program at Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe. [14/01/2010]

5. ESSENTIALS TO ORPHANGE & ELDERLY HOME :-
- Donated 25kg rice, wheat flour – 5kg, tur daal – 1 kg, cooking oil – 2 lit, bathing soap – 5 cakes, surf – 1 kg etc., to Kannada A. M. M. Samsthe. [10/01/2010]
- Donated 50-kg rice to Shree Shirdi Sai Vrudhashram & Home for Mentally Retarded, Kithigannur. [17/01/2010]
- Donated 124 litres of milk each to 2 orphanages – Jeevitha Anathashrama & K.A.M.M.S.

6. REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS :-
- The Republic day celebrations began with a FLAG HOISTING programme at the orphanage, Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe.
- After having lunch with the kids, we kicked off the tree plantation drive.
- Each child was given a pot and a plant sapling, and was assisted by few M5 volunteers to plant it. The pots were later given a name plate with the child's name written on it.

Ø ‘MISSION 5’ released its first A3 size poster to be put up at important venues. [8/01/2010]

Ø ‘MISSION 5’ IMPACT – Shilpa, alumnus of GCC donated 5kg rice, 2kg daal, fruits & old clothes to Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe. [21/01/2010]

Tree Plantation with Kids - Republic Day Spl














Can there be a better way to celebrate the 60th Republic Day of India than plant trees with children.

Team Mission5 began the day with a FLAG HOISTING programme at an orphanage, Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe.

The ceremony ended with a lecture on the importance of the constitution, and the makers of Indian constitution.

Later in the day we had lunch with the kids at the orphanage.

After a brief discussion on the importance of the day (26th January) to MISSION 5 - the day the efforts of this youth campaign was hailed as one of the CITIZEN HERO INITIATIVES from across India, and telecast on CNN IBN on Jan 26, 2008.

At around 5pm we kicked off the tree plantation drive. Each child was given a pot and a sapling, and was assisted by few M5 volunteers. Each of the 20 children thus had their own sapling, and was assigned the task of taking care of the plant.

Next month we are planning to conduct a pot colouring programme among the kids at the orphanage.

Gemini Circus Trip











On Jan 16, 2010, as part of our New Year celebrations, we took the kids from Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe to see Gemini Circus.

The kids thoroughly enjoyed the two-hour show of human and animals breath-taking performances.

Team Mission5 extends heartfelt thanks to Sri Rakum School for the Blind, for providing transport for the event.

Kite Flying - Sankranti Spl









Team Mission5 celebrated 'Sankranti' with children at Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe.

On the auspicious day (also called Kite-flying Day), we visited the orphanage and engaged in KITE FLYING with the kids.

The children put up a great show and flaunted their kite-flying skills with style and aplomb.

The celebrations ended with offering traditional Sankranti delicacies to the kids and the volunteers.

Sports Day - Mission5 Special








On Jan 10, 2010, as part of a new project,
PRAYAS - to encourage co-curricular activities among children, Mission5 conducted the first 'SPORTS DAY' programme for kids at an orphanage, Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe.

A total of 21 kids were divided into 2 groups -
Tom & Jerry. The event comprised of a host of races like - 100m race, spoon-lemon race, 3-legged race, banana-jalebi race, sack hopping race etc.

Winners of each event were given certificates and two best performers, one from each group, were awarded medals.

New Year Celebrations













Team Mission5 celebrated New Year 2010 with children at Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe.

We began the celebrations by singing and dancing, and then together cut a chocolate cake.

As part of our annual project, we donated a pair of new dress to each of the 21 children.
